It’s been four seasons since Kevin Brown last won 14 games.

He’ll look to reach that mark again when the Los Angeles Dodgers meet the San Diego Padres in the middle game of their series at Dodger Stadium.

Brown, who was limited by injuries during the previous two seasons, is having his finest year since he went 18-9 in 1999. However, the 38-year-old right-hander has just one win in his past four starts, going 1-2 with a 3.54 ERA.

On Monday, Brown gave up three runs and four hits over six innings, but did not earn a decision in the Dodgers’ 10-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Brown will now look to help the Dodgers close in on the NL wild-card lead. Los Angeles, which has won six of eight, trails the wild card-leading Florida Marlins by 3 1/2 games.

Wilson Alvarez threw a four-hitter for his first shutout in six years Friday, and Adrian Beltre hit a pair of solo homers to lead the Dodgers to a 6-0 win in the series opener.

Shawn Green also added a solo homer for the Dodgers.

The last-place Padres have lost five of their last seven. They need seven wins in their final 16 games to match last season’s record of 66-96.
