Corey Lidle goes for his first win in more than a month as he leads the Toronto Blue Jays against the hobbled Cleveland Indians.

Lidle, 11-11 with a 6.21 ERA, has made just one start since Aug. 7 because of a strained left groin.

Right after being activated from the disabled list, the right-hander was smacked around by Oakland, allowing seven runs and nine hits over four innings in an 8-6 loss on Monday.

The veteran right-hander has been brutal since the beginning of June, going 3-8 with an 8.46 ERA over his last 13 starts. Lidle hasn’t won since beating Baltimore 5-3 on July 25. He began the season 8-2 in 11 starts.

The Blue Jays are hoping Lidle can stifle the Indians much like teammate Kelvim Escobar did on Friday.

Escobar pitched four-hit ball over eight innings and Toronto overcame a three-run deficit to defeat Cleveland 7-3.

Mike Bordick and Josh Phelps each hit a two-run homer and Carlos Delgado had a season-high four hits for the Blue Jays, who won for just the second time in six games.

The Indians have won five of their last seven despite some key injuries.

Milton Bradley, out since Aug. 10 with a sore back, traveled to Los Angeles on Friday to be examined by Dr. Bob Watkins. There is no timetable for his return. Bradley leads the team with a .321 batting average and 17 stolen bases.

Right-hander Jason Davis, who missed his last start with tendinitis in his right shoulder, will likely not pitch this weekend.

“We’ll probably skip Jason, though I don’t think we’ll shut him down,” manager Eric Wedge said. “He’s probably going to get three more starts this season.”
