Even with a growing bereavement list, the San Francisco Giants look to complete a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Already without star slugger Barry Bonds, whose father Bobby passed away from cancer on Saturday, the Giants added catcher Yorvit Torrealba to the bereavement list Wednesday.

Torrealba will travel to Venezuela for his grandmother’s funeral, while Bonds is expected to return to the lineup during the team’s weekend series at Arizona. Bonds’ father will be laid to rest Thursday.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Giants manager Felipe Alou, who was awakened at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to be told about Torrealba. “Not even close.”

Despite the absence of those players Wednesday, San Francisco took its second straight at Coors 6-4.

The Giants won for the seventh time in eight games, getting a two-run homer from Jeffrey Hammonds, who was filling in for Bonds. Rich Aurilia added two RBIs.

San Francisco extended its lead atop the NL West to 12 games over Arizona, which lost 10-2 to visiting San Diego.

The Rockies have lost five in a row.

Jay Payton homered and combined with Chris Stynes for four RBIs for Colorado, which starts Jason Jennings on Thursday.

Jennings, the reigning NL Rookie of the Year, is 7-1 at home this season with a 5.03 ERA. The lone loss came in a 9-3 setback to Atlanta on Friday.
