Tomo Ohka has just one win in his last nine starts.
Ohka has not earned a decision since defeating Milwaukee on Aug. 1. He has allowed nine earned runs over his last 17 1-3 innings, spanning three starts.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old right-hander allowed two runs and eight hits over 6 1-3 innings in the Expos’ 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
He’ll look to deliver a strong outing as the Expos try to improve their standing in the NL wild-card race. Montreal is currently four games behind wild-card leader Philadelphia.
The Expos head to San Diego after dropping two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers, including a 2-1 loss on Thursday.
“We had three or four chances to get runs and couldn’t get the big hits— or even a sacrifice fly,” Expos manager Frank Robinson said.
The Padres have lost six of their last eight, including a 5-1 defeat to the New York Mets on Thursday. The loss prevented the Padres from sweeping the three-game set.
San Diego has not swept a three-game series at home since May 13-15, 2002, against Montreal.
