If the Philadelphia Phillies are serious about earning the NL wild card, they better not lose any more home games to the hapless Milwaukee Brewers.

The Phillies look to break out of their slump as they continue their three-game series against the Brewers at Veteran Stadium.

Philadelphia has lost two straight and five of six to fall a half-game behind the Florida Marlins in the NL wild card race.

Keith Osik hit a bases-clearing double and Keith Ginter added a two-run double, leading Milwaukee to a 6-3 victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Phillies starter Brandon Duckworth gave up six runs and five hits in 4 2-3 innings. The right-hander has lost six of his last seven decisions and is in danger of losing his spot as the No. 5 starter.

Slugger Jim Thome continued to slump and is just 5-for-26 (.192) in his last seven games. Thome has five home runs in 25 games since the All-Star break.

Phillies ace Kevin Millwood, Wednesday’s starter, also has been struggling. The 28-year-old right-hander has dropped to 11-8, with only one win in his last six decisions.

Millwood has only two wins since July 4, both shutouts. He is 3-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 career starts against Milwaukee.

Millwood will square off against fellow righty Ben Sheets.

Sheets has struggled in August, going 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA in his last two starts. The 25-year-old righty has pitched poorly at Miller Park but is 7-3 with a 3.90 ERA on the road.

Milwaukee had lost seven of eight before winning two in a row. The Brewers are in the midst of a six-game Pennsylvania road trip against the Phillies and Pirates.
