Curt Schilling may have just one win in five starts since coming off the disabled list, but that does not mean he has not pitched well.

Schilling, who is 1-3 since missing six weeks with a broken right hand, will look to improve on that mark when the Arizona Diamondbacks meet the Montreal Expos in the middle game of their series at Bank One Ballpark.

In his last four starts, Schilling has allowed a total of just five earned runs. The Diamondbacks, however, have scored just five runs in those games.

On Friday, Schilling gave up one run and four hits in six innings, but did not get a decision in the Diamondbacks’ 4-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Schilling will try to help the Diamondbacks win for the third time in four games.

In Tuesday’s series opener, Shea Hillenbrand homered and drove in four runs to lead Arizona to an 8-5 win. It was the Diamondbacks’ largest offensive outburst since they beat the San Diego Padres 9-1 on July 17.

They are 6-12 since the All-Star break.

With the win Tuesday, Arizona remained five games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League wild card race. Montreal is 5 1/2 games back.

The Expos had won four straight before dropping the opener of a six-game road trip.

Vladimir Guerrero, who went 3-for-5 Tuesday, provided the highlight of the evening with a 463-foot homer off Randy Johnson. He is batting .381 (16-for-42) with five homers in his last 11 games.
