Javier Vazquez had one of his worst starts of the season on Monday.

He’ll look to rebound when the Montreal Expos meet the Milwaukee Brewers in the middle game of their series at Olympic Stadium.

After allowing no more than three earned runs in six consecutive starts, the 27-year-old right-hander struggled with his command on Monday, giving up eight runs—four earned—and 12 hits over 5 2-3 innings in a 10-8 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

The Expos will look for a much stronger effort from Vazquez as they try to extend their winning streak to three games.

In Friday’s series opener, Tomo Ohka pitched seven innings for his first win in more than a month, and Brad Wilkerson homered and drove in three runs in an 8-4 win.

Jamey Carroll also added his first homer of the season, hitting a shot off the speaker that is suspended 120 feet above the field for an automatic homer.

“I got some good wood on it and thought it may have a chance,” Carroll said. “When I came around first I saw the umpire give the home run signal. I don’t hit them enough to be able to stand there—I’ve got to still run.”

The Expos are tied for fifth in the National League wild-card race, six games behind leader Philadelphia.

Before coming to Montreal, the Brewers had taken three of four from the New York Mets. They are now 3-5 on their 10-game road trip.
