The Dodgers won the second game of the series, 5-2 on Tuesday, for just their eighth victory in 26 games after a stretch in which they won 12 of 15. Los Angeles was tied with San Francisco for first place in the NL West on June 21, but has dropped to third place—10 1/2 games behind the Giants.
Hideo Nomo won for the fifth time in seven decisions, allowing two runs and six hits in seven innings Tuesday. Paul Lo Duca had three hits and three RBIs and Shawn Green added three hits with a pair of doubles for the Dodgers.
Ishii is 5-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 10 home starts this season. The Japanese left-hander beat the St. Louis Cardinals in each of his last two starts, giving up eight earned runs and 11 hits in 11 1-3 innings.
Colorado, which lost for the sixth time in seven games, will turn to Darren Oliver.
The veteran left-hander will be looking to bounce back from a bad outing as he gave up six runs and nine hits in five innings of a 7-0 loss to the Giants on Friday. Oliver was 4-0 with a 3.41 ERA in his previous five starts.

ROCKIES PROBABLE STARTER: Oliver (7-6, 4.95 ERA). Oliver has lost only twice since May 30, going 5-2 despite a 4.93 ERA in eight starts and one relief appearance. He lost to the Dodgers on May 20, giving up three runs and six hits in 6 2-3 innings of a 3-1 loss. Oliver is 2-2 with a 4.99 ERA in seven career appearances, including five starts, against Los Angeles.
DODGERS PROBABLE STARTER: Ishii (9-3, 3.11 ERA). Ishii will be facing the Rockies for the third time this season. He gave up two runs and three hits in six innings of a 3-2 win over Colorado on May 21, and then allowed five runs— three earned—and three hits in five innings of 7-3 loss to the Rockies on May 27. Ishii is 3-2 with a 2.73 ERA in five career starts against Colorado.

But another move will be necessary by Friday, which is Neagle’s next scheduled turn in the rotation. … 1B Helton is 3-for-12 with four walks and three strikeouts against LHP Ishii. Dodgers - RHP Eric Gagne pitched a 1-2-3 ninth Tuesday for his 34th consecutive save this season and 42nd straight overall. Gagne has the second longest consecutive save streak in major league history behind Tom Gordon, who converted 54 straight from 1998-99. … OF Green leads the majors with 36 doubles. … RHP Guillermo Mota pleaded innocent to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol Tuesday. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 22—the same day the Dodgers begin a three-game home series against the New York Mets. Mota and Mets C Mike Piazza, on the disabled list since May 16 because of a groin injury, have yet to face each other since spring training on March 12, when Mota hit Piazza with a pitch, sparking a bench-clearing brawl.
