Sammy Sosa looks to continue his torrid hitting as the Chicago Cubs try to complete a two-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves.

Sosa has been pounding the ball in July, batting .380 with 10 home runs and 21 RBIs over his last 17 games. He homered and drove in four runs and Moises Alou added four hits and five RBIs in the Cubs’ 15-6 rout of Atlanta on Monday.

Tom Goodwin matched a career high with five hits and scored four times and Alex Gonzalez homered and drove in three runs. The Cubs finished with a season-high 21 hits.

On Sunday, the Cubs had 20 hits in a 16-2 romp of the Florida Marlins. Sosa and Gonzalez both homered in that win, which came after Chicago scored only three runs in its previous three games.

The setback ended the Braves’ five-game winning streak and handed Atlanta just its second loss in 15 games.

Javy Lopez hit two home runs for the Braves. Andruw Jones and Marcus Giles also connected.

Atlanta sends Greg Maddux to the mound against the Cubs’ hot bats Tuesday.

Maddux has been sensational against the Cubs, going 10-3 with a 2.37 ERA in 19 starts against the team he began his career with in 1986.

Maddux, who is 8-8 with a 4.46 ERA, is attempting to get over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The four-time Cy Young award winner has struggled for most of the season, but has been coming on of late. The 37-year-old Maddux is 2-0 with a 2.46 ERA over his last three starts.

Sosa is batting .214 (6-for-28) with three home runs in his career against Maddux.
