Darren Oliver goes for his fourth straight win as the Colorado Rockies try to sweep their two-game series against the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field.

Oliver is 3-0 in his last four starts, allowing three earned runs or fewer each time—including a 9-8 win at Milwaukee Saturday during which the left-hander gave up three earned runs and five hits in seven innings.

Oliver is 4-0 with a 3.27 ERA at home, and 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts against the Giants this season.

Oliver was supposed to be opposing Giants ace Jason Schmidt, but Schmidt was pushed back a day and is scheduled to pitch at Arizona on Friday.

Rookie Brian Powell will start for San Francisco after being recalled from Triple-A Fresno. The 30-year-old right-hander takes the roster spot of Kirk Rueter, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder Wednesday.

Powell was 7-7 with a 3.95 ERA in 22 appearances, including 14 starts in the minors.

The Rockies took the opener 11-7 Wednesday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Preston Wilson had four hits and four RBIs and Juan Uribe hit a three-run homer. Larry Walker set a franchise record with his 1,279th hit. He was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Rockies are a major league-best 32-15 at home.

The Giants, who came in with the NL’s best road mark, had their three-game win streak snapped. It was only the fifth loss in 16 games for the NL West leaders.

Barry Bonds drove in four runs for San Francisco, including a three-run homer, his 27th of the season and 640th of his career. Bonds needs 20 more homers to tie Willie Mays for third on baseball’s career list.
