Tom Glavine has 248 career wins—not one against the Atlanta Braves.

Glavine makes his third start against his former team as the New York Mets try to end a two-game losing streak.

Glavine is 0-2 with a 9.58 ERA in two starts this season against the Braves, the team with which he spent the first 16 seasons of his major league career. The veteran left-hander has allowed 11 runs, 17 hits and six home runs in 10 1-3 innings against the Braves. Atlanta beat him 10-4 on May 24 and 5-2 on May 30.

Though the Braves have already faced Glavine this season, the strangeness of seeing the left-hander in an opposing uniform still hasn’t worn off.

“You’re just so used to seeing him pitching for you,” Atlanta manager Bobby Cox said.

Glavine earned his first win since May 18 in his last start, giving up one run and four hits over seven innings as New York beat Cincinnati 7-2 Friday.

“When he’s hitting his spots, he’s going to be tough,” manager Art Howe said. “It’s as simple as that. He was on top of his game today.”

The left-hander had been 0-5 in his previous six starts before beating the Reds.

Glavine will oppose Braves right-hander Russ Ortiz.

Ortiz, acquired from San Francisco during the offseason, is looking to become the first 12-game winner in the National League. Ortiz, who will pitch in next week’s All-Star game, is 4-0 with a 2.43 ERA over his last four starts.

Vinny Castilla homered and drove in three runs Tuesday, leading the Braves to a 5-3 win over the Mets.
