The Kansas City Royals look to continue feasting on the lowly Detroit Tigers as they resume their four-game set at Kauffman Stadium.

With Friday’s 9-8 victory, the Royals have beaten the Tigers seven times this season and eight straight dating to last season. It was the Royals’ fourth straight win overall.

Michael Tucker and Ken Harvey combined to drive in six runs for Kansas City, which is without injured stars Mike Sweeney and Joe Randa.

Tucker went 4-for-5 and is batting .481 (13-for-27) with two homers, three doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs in the last nine games.

Harvey, who had the game-winning hit in the opener Thursday, was 2-for-4. The first baseman has five RBIs in his last five games.

“Our big guys are out now, and collectively as a team everybody’s picking up their game,” said Harvey, who’s been filling in at first base as Sweeney recovers from a back injury. “That’s the sign of a good team.”

The Tigers lost for the 11th time in 13 games despite getting homers from Craig Monroe, Shane Halter, Eric Munson and Dmitri Young.

“It was great that we battled,” Tigers manager Alan Trammell said. “We normally don’t score that many runs. We gave them a few and made it easier on them.”

Monroe is 8-for-16 in his last four games with three homers and eight RBIs.
