Rick Reed hopes to end to his own struggles and help the Minnesota Twins snap a four-game losing streak as they continue a weekend series with the Cleveland Indians at the Metrodome.

Reed lost three straight outings before yielding four runs and six hits over six innings in Minnesota’s 5-4 victory over Milwaukee on Sunday. The veteran right-hander did not receive a decision, but did manage to help the Twins to just their fourth win in his 13 starts this year.

Minnesota, which has dropped 14 of 19 overall to slip 2 1/2 games behind surprising Kansas City in the AL Central, could use a lift from Reed after being shut down by C.C. Sabathia in Friday’s series-opening 4-1 loss.

The left-hander tossed a four-hitter and Jody Gerut homered as Cleveland won the first of 19 meetings between the teams this season.

Twins starters have managed just three wins in their last 19 outings, posting a 7.64 ERA during that stretch.

Cleveland has won four of its last six games.
