He hopes to continue that trend when the National League-leading Braves continue a three-game interleague series with the hapless Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Tropicana Field.
Reynolds boasts a perfect 3-0 mark with a 4.28 ERA in seven road starts this year. He has posted wins in three of his last four road outings, but did not fare well in his last start, a 9-3 home loss to Baltimore on Sunday.
The veteran right-hander gave up four runs—three earned—and five hits in 4 1-3 innings.
“I didn’t execute my pitches and that cost us the ballgame,” Reynolds said.
The Braves got manager Bobby Cox his 1,500th career win with Atlanta on Friday, battering the Devil Rays 8-2.
Chipper Jones has enjoyed his visits to the Trop, going 14-for-31 with five homers and 11 RBIs.
“It was one of those days where things seemed to fall in,” he said. “I got the pitches that I was looking for and didn’t miss them.”
The Devil Rays have lost four straight and a team record-tying 20 this month.
“They overpowered us,” Tampa Bay manager Lou Piniella said. “You don’t like to lose. They just beat us. They’re as good as a ballclub as I’ve seen all year.”
