The Los Angeles Dodgers hope that Hideo Nomo can continue his dominance against the San Francisco Giants so that they can avoid a three-game sweep at Pacific Bell Park.

Nomo is 12-4 lifetime against the Giants with a 2.77 ERA in 18 starts. The 12 wins are his most against any team in the majors.

The Japanese pitcher boasts a 5-2 record with a 1.64 ERA in eight road starts this season, and is 2-0 with a 1.28 ERA over his last three starts, including a 5-2 home victory over Anaheim on Friday. He gave up an earned run and seven hits over 7 1-3 innings.

“Nomo’s been incredible the last two years,” teammate Shawn Green said of Nomo, who is 24-12 with a 3.11 ERA over the last two seasons. “He’s been as much of an ace as you can ask for. And the way Brownie (Kevin Brown) is throwing, we have two of them.”

After beginning this series with victories in 10 of their last 12, the Dodgers dropped the first two, including Tuesday’s 2-1 setback.

Green drove in the lone on a sacrifice fly for Los Angeles, which fell two games behind the NL West-leading Giants. The Dodgers have lost eight of their last nine visits to Pac Bell, including a three-game sweep from April 10-13.

The Giants won for the third time in four games.

Marquis Grissom hit a two-run homer for San Francisco, driving in his third run in as many games. Barry Bonds was 1-for-1 with a walk.
