Jamie Moyer looks for his major-league leading 11th victory as the Seattle Mariners try to complete a four-game sweep of the Anaheim Angels.

Moyer won seven straight starts, allowing just 11 earned runs in 44 2-3 innings, before losing 3-1 to Atlanta last Saturday.

“I wasn’t as consistent as I wanted to be,” Moyer said after matching his season high with four walks in the loss. “You have to be aggressive in and out of the strike zone against a ballclub like this.”

The 40-year-old left-hander has allowed more than three runs just twice in 14 starts. He has been awesome against the Angels this season, pitching 14 scoreless innings over two starts.

Moyer will be opposed by Anaheim’s Ramon Ortiz, who has won his last three starts. The right-hander allowed just one earned run in seven innings of a 13-3 victory against the Mets on Saturday.

The Mariners, who have won eight of their last 11 games, beat the Angels 2-0 on Wednesday as Freddy Garcia pitched eight shutout innings.

Seattle has won 17 of 21 and continues to have the best record in baseball. Seattle, which won an AL-record 116 games in 2001, had only 13 losses when it won its 48th game that season.

The Angels have dropped five of their last six games.
