Cabrera, who was acquired from Cleveland last July, will look to continue tormenting the Indians when the teams meet for the middle game of their interleague series at Jacobs Field.
In Friday’s series opener, Cabrera hit an RBI double in the 10th inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 victory. Of Cabrera’s 30 hits this season, 17 have gone for extra bases.
“Cabrera, once again,” Dodgers manager Jim Tracy said. “He seems to be doing an awful lot of that lately.”
After the game, Cabrera tried to downplay the significance of beating Cleveland, where he played for three and a half seasons.
“It’s good to get a win, no matter where and no matter who it came against,” he said.
The victory extended the Dodgers’ winning streak to four games and moved them within three games of the first-place San Francisco Giants in the National League West.
The Indians have lost two straight games since losing shortstop Omar Vizquel to a knee injury. Vizquel, who had not been on the disabled list since 1994, had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday and will be sidelined at least three weeks.
