Florida posted a doubleheader sweep over Montreal on Wednesday, capped by a 6-0 victory in the nightcap.
The Marlins, who took the opener 4-3, have won six in a row for the first time since Sept. 26-Oct. 1, 2000.
“We’re running, hitting-and-running, doing the little things,” Marlins manager Jack McKeon said. “Right now, we’re in a pretty good streak with lots of luck.”
The shutout was the Marlins’ first of the season, and Florida starters have picked up wins in every game during the streak.
Montreal All-Star Vladimir Guerrero sat out both games because of a sore lower back, and his status for Thursday is uncertain.
Though the Expos are hardly a one-man team, the absence of Guerrero in the starting lineup proved costly.
“We couldn’t do anything,” said Expos manager Frank Robinson. “We couldn’t get things going.”
The Expos already have clinched their first winning May since 1997.
