Scott Elarton felt comfortable when he took the mound for his first start of the season. He’ll just be looking for a better result in his second outing.

Elarton, who made his first start since Oct. 6, 2001 on Saturday, will try to lead the Colorado Rockies to their fifth straight victory when they face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of a three-game series at Coors Field.

After missing all of 2002 with a shoulder surgery, Elarton allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings as the Rockies lost to the San Francisco Giants 5-1 on Saturday.

He threw 52 pitches in the first three innings, but didn’t allow a run until the sixth. After the game, he said he felt fine on the mound.

“I don’t know why I felt so comfortable,” Elarton said. “I felt like I was back where I belong again and I think that I showed I can still pitch here.”

On Wednesday, Shawn Chacon pitched two-hit ball over eight innings and hit a two-run single to lead the Rockies to a 6-0 win. The victory gave the Rockies their second four-game winning streak of the season. They also won four straight from April 3-6.

The Dodgers had won a season-best 10 straight before losing their last two games to Colorado. In Wednesday’s loss, they managed just four hits.
