Player Notes
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow indicated Tuesday that Jake Marisnick is the favorite to start in left field.

Advice: "I got to say, based on how Jake did at the end of last year, he’s going to be strong consideration for a starting spot," Luhnow said. "But you know, I think part of the theme of how we’re constructing the roster is there’s options at every position. … Based on what Jake did second half of last year with us, yeah, he deserves every opportunity to be a starting outfielder, and he’ll probably get (that opportunity)." Marisnick batted .272/.299/.370 with three homers over 51 games for the Astros after coming over in a trade from the Marlins. He has an ugly 94/14 K/BB ratio in his career and had similar issues in the minors, so it's hard to think Marisnick will hit for average. He does have an intriguing blend of power and speed, which could make him interesting if he can make enough contact.
