Player Notes
Yoenis Cespedes reiterated Tuesday that he does not plan to exercise his opt-out this winter.

Advice: We'll believe that when it becomes official. Cespedes is batting .295/.365/.570 with 25 home runs and 64 RBI in 98 games this year -- the first year of a three-year, $75 million deal with the Mets that includes an opt-out clause leading into 2017. His current .936 OPS would be the highest of his career by a pretty wide margin. The 30-year-old outfielder stands to cash in this winter in a weak free agent market and we expect him to do just that. He could still return to the Mets, but with a bigger contract guarantee.

Yoenis Cespedes played the role of offensive hero again on Sunday, clobbering a two-run homer to lead the Mets in a 2-0 victory over the Giants.

Advice: The Mets had been held without a hit through the first six innings of the ballgame until Curtis Granderson led off the seventh with a double. Cespedes then wasted no time, blasting a Jeff Samardzija offering over the wall in left field. He has provided a huge spark since returning from the disabled list, blasting a pair of home runs on Saturday before Sunday's heroics. With his 1-for-4 effort Sunday, Cespedes is now hitting .293/.363/.571 with 25 homers and 64 RBI on the season.

Yoenis Cespedes ripped two homers in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Advice: He also doubled and came within feet of a third home run on a deep flyout to left field. Cespedes was hampered by a quad injury earlier this month but obviously that's no longer an issue. The 30-year-old now sports an impressive .293 average with 24 HR and 62 RBI through 341 at-bats this year. For the Mets to have any chance of going back to the playoffs, Cespedes will have to carry the team on his back.

Yoenis Cespedes (quad) went 1-for-4 with a single in his return from the disabled list Friday against the Giants.

Advice: Cespedes had been out since August 3 with a nagging quad injury. He’s capable of big things if he’s feeling good, but it might be too late for the Mets, who are 5 1/2 games back of the second Wild Card spot in the National League.

Fri, Aug 19 Rotoworld
Mets activated OF Yoenis Cespedes from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: He's right back in the middle of the Mets lineup for Friday's contest against the Giants. He'll need to be the premier offensive presence that he was after his acquisition in the second half last season if the Mets are going to make another run at the postseason.

Fri, Aug 19 Rotoworld
Yoenis Cespedes (quad) is set to be activated from the disabled list Friday.

Advice: Cespedes went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored Wednesday in his third and final rehab game with High-A St. Lucie. "I felt comfortable at the plate," he told reporters. "I'll be ready for Friday." Cespedes was batting .289/.362/.548 with 22 home runs and 59 RBI in 94 games for the Mets before landing on the disabled list August 3 with a quad injury.
