Updating a previous item, Steve Clevenger was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Pirates after fracturing the third metacarpal in his right hand.

Advice: The third metacarpal is part of the middle finger. Clevenger fractured the bone after taking a foul tip off the bat of Andrew McCutchen in the third inning and was immediately replaced by Chris Iannetta behind the plate. Expect the Mariners to call up a catcher to aid their depth. Mike Zunino and Steve Baron are both potential options.

Steve Clevenger was pulled early in Wednesday's game against the Pirates after taking a foul-tip off his right hand.

Advice: Clevenger suffered the foul-tip during an at-bat by Gregory Polanco to lead off the third inning. He left with the trainer after suffering the setback, with Chris Iannetta taking over at catcher in his absence. The Mariners should pass along official word as to the nature of Clevenger's injury as the game progresses.
