Player Notes
Corey Kluber (quad) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

Advice: The Indians have yet to decide if Kluber will work in Game 1 or Game 2 of their ALDS series, but it sounds as though he'll be ready to go at that time. He was able to play catch on Friday without any issues.

Corey Kluber (quad) played catch from up to 150 feet on Friday.

Advice: Kluber also worked in some crow-hops in order to test out his quad strain and felt fine. There's no timetable yet for when he'll throw off a mound, but Friday's session was a positive development. Kluber is expected to be ready for the ALDS next week.

Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway said Thursday that the goal is to start Corey Kluber (quad) in Game 1 or 2 of the ALDS.

Advice: Kluber left his start Monday against the Tigers after suffering a mild quadriceps strain and won't make another appearance in the regular season, but he was able to play catch on Thursday morning and the Indians sound optimistic that he'll be ready to rock for one of the first two games of the best-of-five Division Series. "[Kluber] is not going to not make that start," said Callaway. "He'd be like Curt Schilling. He's going to go out there and pitch."

Corey Kluber has been diagnosed with a mild quadriceps strain and is expected to miss 7-10 days.

Advice: Kluber left his start Monday against the Tigers with what was originally described as a groin injury. He won't take another turn in the rotation before the end of the regular season, but his final start this weekend was probably going to be an abbreviated one anyway. This diagnosis is mostly positive news for the American League Central-champion Indians, as Kluber should be fine -- or something close to fine -- for the ALDS. Game 1 is nine days away.

Indians president Chris Antonetti said on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM on Tuesday that Corey Kluber (groin) will undergo an MRI.

Advice: Kluber was forced to make an early exit from Monday's start against the Tigers due to right groin tightness, but Antonetti is optimistic that it's nothing serious. We should know for sure soon. The Indians' rotation has already taken multiple hits down the stretch, so obviously it would be a tremendous blow if he also needs to miss some time.

Indians manager Terry Francona downplayed Corey Kluber's groin injury after Monday's game.

Advice: Kluber was forced to exit his start against the Tigers on Monday after four innings due to what was described as right groin tightness. He declined to discuss the injury as the Indians clinched the American League Central, but more should be known on his status on Tuesday. "He's good, but he has a groin thing that he's fighting," said Francona. "It started getting him in the third and again in the fourth, so I grabbed him. I told him we need to find a way to win a game, but we aren't going far without him, so we need to get him healthy and let him do what he does."

Corey Kluber exited Monday's start against the Tigers with right groin tightness.

Advice: Kluber allowed two runs on five hits and one walk over four innings before leaving the ballgame. The Indians' rotation has already taken multiple hits down the stretch, so this isn't an encouraging development. We should know more about the severity soon.

Corey Kluber was pulled from Monday's start against the Tigers after four innings.

Advice: Kluber allowed two runs on five hits and one walk before exiting. He was only at 60 pitches at the time, so it was a surprise to see him leave this early. And given the Indians' recent injury issues, obviously not ideal. We should get an update on his status soon.

Corey Kluber gave up two runs over 6 1/3 innings to lead the Indians to a 4-3 victory over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: He rang up nine strikeouts against two walks and six base hits, none of which left the yard. He gave up both runs in the third inning to fall behind 2-1 but he was able to put up zeroes until the Indians retook the lead and went on to victory. Kluber moves to 18-9 with a 3.11 ERA. He owns 224 strikeouts in 211 innings. He will likely get just one more start before the regular season ends.
