Marlins purchased the contract of LHP Duane Below from Triple-A New Orleans.
Advice: Below will take the place of Jon Rauch, who was designated for assignment following Friday's game. The 27-year-old lefty has worked exclusively as a starter in the minor leagues this season, posting a 2.68 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30/10 K/BB ratio over 47 innings. It's unclear what his role will be with the Marlins initially.
