Player Notes
Bryce Harper is not in the Nationals' lineup Thursday.

Advice: It's a rare day off for the slugger. Ben Revere is also getting a breather, as the Nats are going with Michael Taylor in center field and Chris Heisey in right.

Bryce Harper doubled and ripped a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

Advice: Harper lined a Jerry Blevins offering into the right-field bullpen with one out in the fifth inning. It was his 16th longball of the season but just his third in June. The reigning National League MVP is sporting a disappointing .258 average but has made up for it and then some with a .403 on-base percentage.

Bryce Harper went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Harper connected for a solo homer off Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir in the first inning. The dinger was his 15th of the season. Those 15 bombs, plus his 43 RBI, are nice enough, but after a scalding-hot start to the 2016 campaign, Harper has cooled off to a relatively modest .258/.403/.498. For reference's sake, when he won the NL MVP in 2015, that came on the strength of a .330/.460/.649 triple-slash. Harper owners shouldn't panic, but disappointment is a reasonable emotion to feel given expectations. Still plenty of time for the young superstar to right the mostly-upright ship.
