Player Notes
Mariners activated 1B Justin Smoak from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: Logan Morrison has heated up at the plate to grab ahold of the first base job, leaving Smoak without a starting spot. Smoak had a big first week of the season for the M's but batted just .191/.267/.319 over his last 56 games before going on the disabled list. He's hit only .225/.310/.383 across parts of five big league seasons.

Justin Smoak (quad) took a day off from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma Tuesday after feeling overall soreness.

Advice: He's expected to return to action Wednesday. The Mariners had been hoping Smoak was ready to be activated last week, but obviously he's needed more time. The first baseman is batting .220/.298/.366 with one homer over 47 plate appearances so far on his rehab assignment.
