Player Notes
Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said Friday that it "could be unlikely" Domonic Brown (Achilles) is ready for Opening Day.

Advice: Sandberg said the outfielder is coming along "slowly" in his recovery from left Achilles tendinitis, an ailment he was diagnosed with a week ago. Brown had been hoping to return to game action around the middle of next week, but it's sounding like that won't happen. The Phillies figure to go with Darin Ruf or maybe Jeff Francoeur in right field on Opening Day.

Domonic Brown (Achilles) hopes to get back in game action in a week or so.

Advice: Brown has been dealing with soreness in his left Achilles for most of the spring and an MRI last Friday showed moderate tendinitis. He expects to start running again in the next couple of days, but obviously he's going to be cutting it close to get ready for Opening Day.

Domonic Brown has been diagnosed with moderate tendinitis after his MRI revealed no structural damage to his left Achilles.

Advice: He'll remain sidelined for the next few days, and it could be up to a week before he returns to game action, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury scare. At this stage, his availability for Opening Day is in question.

Domonic Brown (Achilles) will undergo an MRI on Friday.

Advice: Brown has dealt with soreness in his left Achilles for a couple weeks and was finally forced from a game Thursday when it became too much. The Phillies think he's dealing with tendinitis, but they decided to send him for an exam to make sure it's not something worse. An update on Brown's status should be available later Friday.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Friday that he's unsure whether Domonic Brown (Achilles) needs an MRI.

Advice: Brown is dealing with tendinitis in his left Achilles, an ailment he's battled for a couple weeks before it finally forced him from a game on Thursday. It doesn't sound like a major setback at this point, but we'll just have to see how the outfielder recovers.

Domonic Brown said after leaving Thursday's game that he's been told he's dealing with tendinitis in his left Achilles.

Advice: Brown revealed that he's dealt with soreness for the past two weeks. He'll be re-evaluated on Friday before more is known about his status. "I want to be in there, spring training or not," Brown said. "I feel pretty good at the plate. I don’t want to miss any time, but this is part of the game, also. I’m definitely frustrated for sure. It seemed like we were going in the right direction, it was getting a little bit better. As soon as Chase Headley hit the home run (in the second inning), I took off and started feeling it then. Once I got to the on-deck circle … I could definitely feel it. Not pulling but grabbing a little bit."

Domonic Brown exited Thursday's game against the Yankees with Achilles soreness.

Advice: He didn't look to suffer any obvious injury, so we'll have to wait on an update from the Phillies to see what happened. Brown struck out in both plate appearances before leaving. The 27-year-old outfielder is looking to bounce back in 2015 after a disappointing 2014 campaign.
