Player Notes
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Astros are looking to trade Chris Carter.

Advice: Carter has 21 home runs in 93 games this season but is also sporting a weak .212 batting average and .291 on-base percentage. The 27-year-old will be arbitration-eligible for the first time heading into 2015 and is under contractual control through 2018, so Houston will want something fairly significant in return.

Chris Carter was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to a stomach bug.

Advice: Carter has been throwing up and is not feeling well enough to play. It's poor timing, as he's red-hot with eight homers over his last 19 games. He should be fine in a day or two, though.

Chris Carter hit a three-run homer off Jesse Chavez on Monday, giving him 21 homers this year.

Advice: He hit the first of the Astros' four homers tonight. Carter is 10-for-29 in his last eight games, raising his average from .200 to .214.

Chris Carter went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the A's.

Advice: Carter has now blown by the Mendoza Line, as he's up to a .213 average. The two RBI brought him up to 43 on the year. Carter hasn't ever been one to hit for average, but he does have nineteen home runs and a .478 slugging percentage, which tells you that he makes his hits count. Always a hot/cold slugger, Carter's on the scorching side this month, slashing .306/.352/.735 for July.
