Player Notes
Craig Kimbrel didn't take the loss, but allowed the Angels to walk off winners in the ninth inning on Monday.

Advice: Kevin Quackenbush allowed the Angels to put runners on the corners with one out, prompting manager Bud Black to bring in Kimbrel to put out the fire. Kimbrel struck out Erick Aybar, then intentionally walked Mike Trout to load the bases for Albert Pujols. Kimbrel broke Pujols' bat, but the grounder snuck into left field for a walk-off single. Kimbrel wasn't charged with the run or the loss, but entered the appearance having allowed runs in seven of his previous 11 outings and he carries a miserable 5.63 ERA with a 17/5 K/BB ratio in 10 innings while going 11-for-12 in save chances.

Craig Kimbrel allowed a solo home run but still picked up his 11th save as the Padres escaped with a 4-3 win over the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: Staked to a two-run lead, Kimbrel got two quick outs on strikeouts before Chris Coghlan took him out to center field for a solo home run. The flame-throwing right-hander got Mike Baxter to ground out to end the game. Kimbrel has been remarkably hittable this season as he has a 5.74 ERA and has allowed three home runs in 15 2/3 innings. Nevertheless, he's 11-for-12 in save chances with a 23/5 K/BB ratio.
