Player Notes
Jason Heyward is considered day-to-day with a left groin injury.

Advice: Heyward suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Brewers while chasing down a ball in the outfield. He tested things out with some jogging and looked OK, but the Cardinals decided to be cautious here. Consider the outfielder day-to-day.

Jason Heyward left Sunday's game versus the Brewers with an apparent left leg injury.

Advice: Heyward tweaked something while chasing after a ball in the right-field corner. He tested things out with some jogging and looked OK, but the Cardinals decided to go ahead and pull him just to be safe. The club should have an update on his status shortly.

Jason Heyward hit his second home run of the season in Friday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: The third inning home run off of Matt Garza would be Heyward's only hit, as he finished 1-for-5. Heyward has struggled with his new team, but he's shown signs of life over the last three games, recording hits in each of them. He'll have to continue the recent trend if he wants to continue hitting second. Outside of a 27-homer campaign in 2012, Heyward has never hit more than 18 home runs in a season.

Jason Heyward went 2-for-4 on Thursday, giving him his first multihit game since he went 3-for-5 on Opening Day.

Advice: Heyward's .213 average would be less of a problem if he were drawing his typical number of walks, but he's worked just one in his first 61 at-bats. The Cardinals are winning and can stay patient, but at some point, they might decide they'd be better off with Kolten Wong hitting second.

Jason Heyward connected for a solo homer Saturday against the Reds.

Advice: It was his first home run of the season and his only hit in four at-bats on Saturday. Hitting .227 through 10 games, Heyward is off to a slow start with his new team, but this isn't something out of the ordinary. He came into Saturday's action with a .729 OPS between March and April for his career. Things should get better as the calendar flips to May and beyond.
