Player Notes
Aroldis Chapman struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning Sunday, earning his 21st save against the Pirates.

Advice: The dominant left-hander has now struck out 60 batters in 29 2/3 innings of work this year. He's converted all five save chances in July after blowing his last chance of June, and Chapman owns a 2.12 ERA and 0.78 WHIP overall. He'll continue to be a top-flight fantasy option in the second half.

Aroldis Chapman struck out the side Friday against the Pirates to convert his 20th save of the season.

Advice: Of course he did. With Friday's performance, Chapman has 40 straight relief appearances with a strikeout, which is a new MLB record. The fireballing left-hander has a 2.20 ERA and 57 strikeouts over just 28 2/3 innings this season. He's 20-for-22 in save chances.

Aroldis Chapman touched off a benches-clearing incident in Thursday's Cubs-Reds game after throwing some high-and-tight pitches during a scoreless ninth.

Advice: Chapman buzzed a couple of guys in a tie game, leading to much jawing in the Cubs dugout. Chapman tried to show the Cubs players up after the frame, smiling and waving his glove dismissively at that, and the jawing continued after Anthony Rizzo took his position at first base (near the Reds dugout) to begin the bottom of the ninth, leading to the incident. Chapman wasn't so much involved then, as Alfredo Simon instead thrust himself into the middle of the fracas. Fortunately, no punches were thrown and the series is now over, giving both sides some time to cool down.

Aroldis Chapman fanned the side in a perfect ninth inning for his 19th save in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.

Advice: The Cubs were no match for Chapman's stuff, as he made quick work of Junior Lake, Justin Ruggiano, and Mike Olt. Chapman is 19-for-21 in save opportunities with a 2.36 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 52/9 K/BB ratio.

Aroldis Chapman tossed a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday for his 18th save of the season.

Advice: Chapman was unavailable Sunday due to a sore hamstring, but he felt well enough to give it a go Tuesday. It wasn't without some drama, as the hard-throwing southpaw gave up a single and a walk, but he managed to strike out Ryan Sweeney swinging to end the threat and lock down the victory. Chapman is now 18-for-20 in save chances to go along with a dominant 2.45 ERA and 49/9 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings.

Aroldis Chapman (hamstring) said Monday that he would be available to pitch.

Advice: Chapman tweaked his right hamstring prior to Sunday's game, which resulted in Jonathan Broxton garnering a save chance. However, he reported improvement Monday and appears ready to roll.

Reds manager Bryan Price said after Sunday's win over the Brewers that Aroldis Chapman was unavailable due to a sore hamstring.

Advice: It raised a few eyebrows when Jonathan Broxton was called upon to protect a two-run advantage in the ninth, and we now know why. Chapman is expected to be available on Tuesday. Broxton converted the save in his absence.
