Player Notes
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees are telling teams that they are close to trading Aroldis Chapman.

Advice: They're also telling teams that they intend to keep Andrew Miller. Chapman has been his usual dominant self this season with New York, boasting a 2.01 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 44/8 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 innings. The 28-year-old impending free agent is averaging 100 mph with his fastball. There is believed to be interest from the Cubs, Nationals, and Giants.

Aroldis Chapman threw a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Giants to convert his 20th save of the season.

Advice: After the Yankees took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on Brandon Crawford’s third error of the game, Chapman allowed a leadoff double to Gregor Blanco to begin the ninth inning before retiring the next three batters he faced. He averaged 103 mph with his fastball and reached 104 mph with seven out of his 17 pitches. It goes without saying that he’d have a ton of value if the Yankees decide to sell before August 1, but their recent winning ways could complicate matters. As for the Giants, they have now lost six straight.

Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals "want in on" Aroldis Chapman.

Advice: Svrluga notes that "others are very interested" in Chapman, as well, and the Nats will not give up Lucas Giolito, Trea Turner, Victor Robles or Reynaldo Lopez in any trade for the closer. This isn't the first time Washington has been connected to Chapman, as they're seeking a shutdown reliever and the fireballer would be reunited with his old manager Dusty Baker.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, rival executives say that the Yankees are going to "full bore" in shaping trades for Aroldis Chapman and others.

Advice: The Yankees haven't publicly said that they are selling, but Olney writes that they began setting the groundwork weeks ago, with the Nationals, Rangers, and Indians among the teams involved for Chapman. Carlos Beltran and Andrew Miller are the other headline pieces that could be moved in the coming days.

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, rival executives have the sense that the Indians are more inclined "to shoot the moon" for a trade for Aroldis Chapman or Andrew Miller than they typically would.

Advice: The Indians have a great rotation and expect to get Michael Brantley back soon, so adding an impact arm to put alongside Cody Allen and Bryan Shaw in the bullpen makes a lot of sense. Chapman will be a free agent after this season while Miller has another year remaining on his contract. Assuming the Yankees decide to sell, both pitchers will generate significant interest leading up to August 1.

Aroldis Chapman converted his 19th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning in Monday's win over the Orioles.

Advice: Chapman issued a two-out walk to Nolan Reimold but then sealed the one-run victory when he got Ryan Flaherty to ground out to second base. The fireballing closer has surrendered just one run over his last 11 appearances and boasts a 40/8 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings this season.

Aroldis Chapman collected his 18th save of the season on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a two-run lead against the Red Sox.

Advice: It was an unusual outing for Chapman, as it was just the fourth time in 28 appearances this season that he failed to record a strikeout. He has been as dominant as ever this season, registering a 2.30 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 40/7 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings.

According to MLB.com's William Ladson, bullpen help will be the Nationals' "top priority" at the trade deadline.

Advice: The Nationals have already been linked to Yankees relievers Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller. The Yankees haven't said either player is off limits, though it would likely take a massive prospect haul to land either one of them. Ladson's source also said the Nats are looking to add a bat while naming contract-year outfielders Carlos Beltran and Jay Bruce as potential targets.
