Player Notes
According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, "the feeling from the Mets side is the Neil Walker contract extension discussions are probably dead."

Advice: Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reported on Sunday that the two sides were making progress on a contract extension that would potentially run through 2019, but it sounds like there wound up being a big gap in the financial expectations. Walker will make $17.2 million in 2017 after accepting the Mets' one-year qualifying offer in early November. He is scheduled to become a free agent next winter.

According to Marc Carig of Newsday, the Mets' extension talks with Neil Walker "have hit a snag."

Advice: Carig says "it’s still possible negotiations could heat up once more," but there is nothing imminent at this time. Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reported on Sunday that the two sides were discussing a new deal that would run through 2019 and be worth "north of $40 million," but there are apparently some disagreements in the details. Walker will earn $17.2 million in 2017 after accepting the Mets' one-year qualifying offer in November. He is currently scheduled to become a free agent next winter.

Marc Carig of Newsday was told Monday morning that "nothing is imminent" in the ongoing extension talks between the Mets and Neil Walker.

Advice: Walker and his reps met Sunday with Mets general manager Sandy Alderson and it sounds like there could be an agreement at some point this spring, but we're not there yet. Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reported this weekend that the two sides have been discussing a contract extension that would run through 2019 and be worth "north of $40 million." Walker, 31, slugged 23 homers with an .823 OPS in 113 games last season before undergoing back surgery. He accepted the Mets' one-year, $17.2 million qualifying offer for 2017.

Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets and Neil Walker's agent have discussed a contract extension that would run through 2019 and would be worth "north of $40 million."

Advice: Walker accepted the club's $17.2 million qualifying offer in November, but the two sides are interested in ripping up that deal and installing a new three-year pact. General manager Sandy Alderson said Sunday that he talked to Walker's agent on Saturday and planned to discuss things with the player himself soon. Walker, 31, hit 23 homers with an .823 OPS in 113 games last season in his first year in New York before undergoing back surgery.
