Player Notes
Jay Bruce hit a three-run home run and tied the game in the ninth with an RBI double, but the Reds lost in 10 innings to the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Bruce clobbered a three-run home run to right field against Justin Masterson in the fifth inning, putting the Reds up 4-3 at the time. In the ninth, he tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI double to right field. Bruce has homered twice in his last three games, picking his ugly slash line up to .224/.300/.392 along with his 14 home runs and 55 RBI.

Jay Bruce went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a two-run home run in Sunday's walk-off loss in game one of a double-header against the Rockies.

Advice: Bruce has both been slumping and battling an illness lately, but he had it working in the afternoon half of the double-header. He got the Reds on the board with his fourth-inning homer off of Jordan Lyles and then singled in a run in the ninth to pad the Reds' seemingly insurmountable lead. Overall, Bruce has had a tough 2014 season, slashing .224/.302/.385 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI, and 11 stolen bases.
