Player Notes
According to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia, the Mets are seeking a pair of prospects in potential trades for outfielder Jay Bruce.

Advice: The Phillies have shown interest in Bruce in the past and could use some left-handed power in the middle of their lineup, though they could just prefer to sign a cheaper option through free agency and hold on to their prospects. The trade market for Bruce has been incredibly slow to develop this winter.

According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, Mets GM Sandy Alderson is "starting to say publicly" that the Mets might not trade outfielder Jay Bruce.

Advice: Alderson has been aggressively shopping the 29-year-old slugger all winter, but this market remains far too crowded for players of Bruce's type. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported last week that the Mets would have to eat a significant amount of money to find a willing trade partner, and even then they probably wouldn't get any talent in return. New York might as well go ahead and open the 2017 season with Bruce as a backup outfielder and bench bat.
