Jurrjens gave up his only hit with two outs in the seventh inning in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Phillies. Advice: Jurrjens, 6-6 with a 2.73 ERA, began the night with the seventh-lowest run support in the majors, including only five runs in his last four losses. That lack of support ended as the Braves scored seven runs off Cole Hamels (4-5), who left the game after giving up three hits and a walk in the fifth. Jurrjens, who was 0-4 in June despite posting a 3.68 ERA in five starts, won for the first time since May 29. |

RHP Jair Jurrjens has been teased over the last two months that if he wants to get a win, he'll have to pitch a perfect game. Well, he didn't do that Wednesday, but he did carry a no-hitter into the seventh inning against the Phillies. Jurrjens said he was trying to get everyone out by throwing fastballs and started over-throwing, which led to the four walks he issued. |

Jurrjens held the Phillies to one run on one hit and four walks in seven innings Wednesday. Recommendation: Jurrjens carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Paul Bako singled with two outs. Jurrjens responded by striking out the pinch-hitting Matt Stairs before Kris Medlen entered to start the eighth. He has struck out six in each of his last three starts. |
