Lannan lasted eight innings Saturday, holding the Braves to three runs on nine hits and a walk, to pick up his sixth win of the season. He struck out one. Recommendation: Despite his typically ugly 48:38 K:BB ratio in 107 innings on the season Lannan's skill at generating weak contact has served him well this season, and he now sports a 3.45 ERA and 1.346 WHIP. It's tough to really sell high on a pitcher with his limited upside, but this is probably about as good as it will get for Lannan. |

Lannan took a four-hitter into the eighth inning of Sunday's 5-3 win over Baltimore. He ended up allowing three runs and six hits in 7 1-3 innings. Advice: The left-hander went 3-0 with a 2.19 ERA in June and has established himself as the leader of a young starting rotation that owns a collective 15-27 record. "I think he is, without a lot of hoopla," manager Manny Acta said. "I think the other kids realize that. He leads by example. He works very hard." Lannan has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 12 of his last 13 starts. |
