Slowey has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained wrist following his start against the Detroit Tigers.
Advice: Slowey, who was trying to become the majors' first 11-game winner, gave up a season-worst six runs on five hits in three innings in Minnesota's 11-9 loss in 16 innings on Friday night. Slowey (10-3) will be replaced in the rotation by Anthony Swarzak, who was called up from Triple-A Rochester.

The starter lasted just three innings for the second straight start on Friday, giving up six runs on five hits one start after giving up five runs on six hits in a three-inning start against St. Louis. Slowey has seen his ERA climb from 3.97 at the start of June to 4.86.
