Player Notes
Hunter Pence (hamstring) hit the third home run of his minor league rehab assignment in Wednesday's game with Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Pence has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery to repair his right hamstring in early June. While he has suffered several setbacks while recovering from that procedure, the veteran outfielder is finally starting to put it together during his current rehab stint. CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic writes that the Giants are "[leaving the] door open for [an] early return." A reunion this weekend is not out of the question.

Hunter Pence is scheduled to play six innings in a minor league rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

Advice: He'll play seven innings on Sunday. If all continues to progress, he could be looking at a return to the Giants lineup before the end of next week, though there have already been multiple setbacks in his recovery so nothing is a given.

Hunter Pence (hamstring) sat out Wednesday's rehab game at Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Pence is still feeling soreness in his hamstring and the Giants would prefer not to take chances with the outfielder. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that he is about a week behind his initial hopeful return target of July 25, which could push his activation date into early August. The hamstring has nagged him at several points during his current rehab assignment, which began July 16.

Hunter Pence (hamstring) could resume his rehab assignment Wednesday.

Advice: That was supposed to happen Tuesday, but Pence decided to play it safe after going through pregame drills at Triple-A Sacramento. He did not suffer another setback. Out since June 1 with a severe hamstring strain, Pence has been aiming to return to the Giants' active roster July 25 -- this Sunday. That still seems doable.

Hunter Pence (hamstring) hopes to resume his minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Pence felt some hamstring soreness in his first rehab game on Saturday and was held out of the lineup on Sunday as a precaution. Monday's game was rained out and he plans to go through pre-game activity on Tuesday to show his readiness to return to the lineup.
