Player Notes
Reds activated RHP Homer Bailey from the 60-day disabled list.

Advice: Bailey needed 14 months to recover from Tommy John surgery. He'll make his season debut for the Reds Sunday against the Padres. To make room for Bailey on the active roster, the Reds optioned Kyle Waldrop to Triple-A Louisville while also transferring Caleb Cotham (shoulder) to the 60-day disabled list.

Homer Bailey (elbow) is set to make his 2016 debut on Sunday afternoon in San Diego.

Advice: It will be his first start at the major league level since undergoing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in May 2015. Bailey has posted a concerning 5.14 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in eight minor league rehab appearances, but he went 98 pitches Monday at Triple-A Louisville (while lasting just 4 1/3 innings) and the Reds will let him try to find himself against big league competition.

Homer Bailey (elbow) gave up two runs on five hits and four walks over 4 1/3 innings Monday in his latest rehab start with Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Bailey made it up to 98 pitches, though the results weren't ideal. He has yet to complete six innings since resuming his minor league rehab assignment about a week ago. The plan calls for him to meet the team in San Francisco from here, so it's possible he could finally be cleared to be activated from the disabled list. Bailey hasn't pitched in the majors since April of 2015 due to Tommy John surgery.
