Player Notes
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Rangers will keep Yovani Gallardo.

Advice: They entertained offers but ultimately decided they'd rather hang on to him an make him a qualifying offer after the season if he doesn't re-sign. Gallardo has really struggled his last three times out, which could have affected the quality of offers for him.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Rangers "appear to be planning to hold" Yovani Gallardo.

Advice: They've been telling teams all along that they'd rather keep Gallardo and make him a qualifying offer over the winter if they're unable to get a trade proposal they like. Evidently teams haven't met the asking price. The Dodgers, Cubs and Blue Jays have been linked to the right-hander.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Dodgers are in "ongoing trade talks" with the Rangers involving Yovani Gallardo.

Advice: ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier Friday that the chances of a Gallardo deal are "50/50." The Dodgers' rotation is full following the additions of Alex Wood and Mat Latos, so the club would figure to make an additional trade should they acquire Gallardo.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick hears that there's a "50/50" chance of Yovani Gallardo being traded Friday.

Advice: He says that the Dodgers, Cubs and Blue Jays are still "in the mix" for the right-hander. The Rangers are open to dealing Gallardo, but Crasnick says they'll just keep him if they don't get a proposal they like and then make him a qualifying offer after the season.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Cubs, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Yankees and Giants are all in the mix to acquire Yovani Gallardo from the Rangers.

Advice: As perhaps the top hurler left on the open market, the price for Gallardo has likely risen now that Johnny Cueto, David Price and Cole Hamels have already been dealt. With the recent injuries in the Yankees rotation, they may be the most desperate club at the moment. Expect the bidding to escalate quickly.

MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that there's a possibility of Yovani Gallardo being traded to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Texas just beefed up its rotation with the Cole Hamels trade, but the club is still buried in the American League Wild Card race and could sell some parts. Gallardo is due to become a free agent this winter. If the price is right, it sounds like the Rangers will move him.

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the Rangers remain open to the idea of trading Yovani Gallardo.

Advice: Even though Wednesday's acquisition of Cole Hamels sets the Rangers up to compete in 2016, Gallardo is an impending free agent and could net the club a nice return in the trade market. The veteran right-hander owns a 3.19 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 83/46 K/BB ratio over 121 1/3 innings on the season.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers currently view Yovani Gallardo as a secondary option if they are unable to land Cole Hamels or David Price.

Advice: It's a near certainty that the Rangers deal the right-hander before next week's deadline, and they may not be able to wait for the rest of the pitching market to play out before pulling the trigger.

Yovani Gallardo allowed five earned runs in four innings Saturday in a no-decision versus the Angels.

Advice: Texas won the game with a three-run top of the eighth inning. Gallardo was very little help, coughing up eight hits and three walks in a crucial showcase start. The 29-year-old right-hander is one of the more talked-about players on the trade block and could be done in a Rangers uniform. His ERA is back above 3.00.

Sat, Jul 25 Rotoworld
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Dodgers and Rangers have talked about Yovani Gallardo.

Advice: Morosi is also tying the Royals to Gallardo, who has posted a surprising 2.91 ERA in 117 1/3 innings this season for the Rangers. There's little doubt that the Dodgers will acquire a starting pitcher ahead of the July 31 trade deadline and the list of possible targets is long and wide-ranging. Gallardo, 29, is earning $14 million this year. He can become a free agent in the fall.
