INF Brandon Wood, who has spent the past three years on a shuttle between Anaheim and Salt Lake, home of the Angels' Triple-A affiliate, is out of options and would be the obvious replacement at third base if Chone Figgins leaves as a free agent. "We've internally talked about this for a long time," manager Mike Scioscia said of Wood, 24. "He's absolutely ready for the opportunity -- much like Kendry Morales was. Now I'm not saying he's going to put up Kendry's numbers. But as far as where he is and what he's going to accomplish playing at a level outside the major leagues is not going to move his career forward.
