LHP Doug Slaten was recalled from Class AAA Reno to fill the bullpen spot vacated by RHP Tony Pena, who was traded to the Chicago White Sox for minor league 1B Brandon Allen on Tuesday. Slaten, 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA in two previous stints with the D-backs this season, gives Arizona the luxury of three left-handers in the bullpen. LHP Scott Schoeneweis (1-0, 4.30 ERA) and LHP Clay Zavada (2-2, 1.77) are the others. Zavada won Wednesday's game after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. |
