Player Notes
Glen Perkins (shoulder) threw 15 pitches in a bullpen session Wednesday.

Advice: It was his third bullpen session since arriving to camp. "I'm happy with how I feel," said Perkins, who ramped up the intensity a bit on Wednesday. The southpaw is coming back from surgery last June to repair a torn labrum and there's a good chance he'll begin the season on the disabled list. Still, he's making progress.

Glen Perkins (shoulder) will throw his next bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: Perkins felt some minor discomfort in his surgically-repaired shoulder after arriving to camp, but he has thrown a couple of bullpen sessions in recent days. The real test will be to see how he responds to ramping things up to batting practice and game action. The Twins aren't going to rush things here, so he's a possibility to start the year on the disabled list. Brandon Kintzler is expected to begin the season as the Twins' closer.

Glen Perkins (shoulder) threw a successful 15-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: It was his second bullpen since undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in June. Twins manager Paul Molitor estimated that Perkins was throwing at about 75 percent effort. Perkins also took part in fielding drills including throwing to bases. Perkins is making definite progress but is still a long shot for Opening Day and could begin the year on the disabled list.

Glen Perkins (shoulder) will throw another bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: Perkins felt discomfort in his surgically-repaired left shoulder while playing catch last week, but he apparently bounced back well from a bullpen session Tuesday and is ready to try things from the bump again. It's going to be a long road back for the former closer.

Glen Perkins (shoulder) threw 15 pitches off the mound on Tuesday.

Advice: Perkins was originally expected to throw off a mound last Friday, but that was scratched after he experienced renewed discomfort in his surgically-repaired shoulder. Assuming he bounces back okay from Tuesday's session, he'll do some long tossing on Thursday. Still, he's a major question mark for the start of the 2017 season. Brandon Kintzler currently projects to begin the year as Minnesota's closer.
