Milledge (finger) is expected to be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis by Sunday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Recommendation: Pirates GM Neal Huntington said on Tuesday that Milledge will come to Pittsburgh "if he performs, he'll show us." Huntington added that the team did its due diligence before pulling the trigger on the trade, conducting more than 20 personal inquiries about Milledge. "With maturity and the proper guidance, he was a chance we're willing to take," Huntington said. |

OF Lastings Milledge will join the Pirates' rookie-level Gulf Coast League farm club in Bradenton, Fla., his hometown, on Wednesday to continue his rehabilitation from a broken right ring finger. He was injured May 11 while playing for Class AAA Columbus when he was hit by a pitch by Indianapolis' Ty Taubenheim while trying to bunt.
Milledge and RHP Joel Hanrahan were acquired by the Pirates from the Nationals on Tuesday in exhange for OF Nyjer Morgan and LHP Sean Burnett. |

Milledge was traded from Washington to Pittsburgh on Tuesday in a four-player deal that saw Nyjer Morgan sent to the Nationals. Advice: Milledge, a former top Mets prospect, hit .167 in only seven games before being sent to the minors and has spent much of the season rehabilitating a broken right ring finger that required surgery in May. He is expected to join Triple-A Indianapolis within a week to 10 days. |
