LHP Paul Maholm had his four-game winning streak snapped. He gave up home runs to Gordon Beckham, Adam Dunn and Tyler Flowers over 6 1/3 innings of nine-hit, five run ball.

Maholm (4-3) picked up the loss Sunday as he allowed five runs on nine hits, three of them home runs, in 6.1 innings as the Cubs lost to the White Sox.
Recommendation: While his ERA ballooned from 4.35 to 4.73 after the outing, Maholm was able to limit his free passes to zero after walking three in each of previous two starts. As a result, his WHIP held steady at 1.204 in spite of the shelling he endured at the hands of the White Sox.

Maholm did not get a decision Tuesday in a 7-6 loss to the Cards. He allowed four runs and seven hits over six innings.
Advice: Maholm didn't allow more than one run in each of his previous four starts but gave up two in the first.
