Dustin Pedroia (concussion) is unlikely to return to the Red Sox lineup before the weekend.

Advice: Pedroia suffered a concussion Saturday when took a forearm to the head in a nasty collision at second base. He was still symptomatic as of Monday morning and Red Sox manager John Farrell said it would be "optimistic" to think that he could play in the club's upcoming three-game series against the Yankees. Red Sox manager John Farrell said Sunday that Dustin Pedroia (concussion) will not play on Monday.

Advice: Pedroia took a forearm to the head in Saturday's contest against the Rays and has been experiencing concussion-like symptoms ever since. It's very likely that he will need a couple of days off, and will have to pass the standard concussion protocol before he's cleared to return to the lineup.

Dustin Pedroia (concussion) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Pedroia was displaying concussion-like symptoms after leaving Saturday's game versus the Rays when he took a forearm to the head. He would normally be placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list, but with roster expansion coming, a move isn't needed. He will, however, have to pass MLB concussion protocol before being cleared to return to action. Brock Holt is at second base Sunday and could remain at the position for a while.
