RHP Joel Zumaya was examined by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla., Oct. 10 and got a good progress report after undergoing late-season surgery to remove a small piece of bone and clean out his sore right shoulder. "Joel is doing very well," Tigers head trainer Kevin Rand said recently. "His rehabilitation has gone extremely well. He will be cleared to play catch very soon and we'll bring him to camp (in Lakeland, Fla.) after the first of the year." Zumaya was left behind in spring training to let his sore right shoulder recuperate and joined Detroit on April 25.
