Thompson (elbow inflammation) threw Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Recommendation: Thompson threw from 120 feet on Wednesday but doesn't think "it will be too long" before he returns to the mound on a rehab assignment. |

Thompson received a cortisone shot in his right elbow on May 1, and has resumed throwing according the the Cardinals' official Web site. Advice: Thompson was placed on the 15-day DL on April 28 with elbow inflammation, five days after being demoting him to the minors. The right-hander was 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA, making two starts before going to the bullpen when Joel Pineiro was activated from the disabled list. |
