Player Notes
Dodgers designated RHP Scott Baker for assignment.

Advice: The Dodgers are expected to recall an extra bullpen arm to fulfill his spot on the active roster. Baker posted a 5.73 ERA over 11 innings with the Dodgers. There's a decent chance that he'll attract interest from elsewhere.

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports that the Dodgers plan to designate Scott Baker for assignment.

Advice: After using seven relievers in Sunday's 13-inning affair the Dodgers will need a fresh arm in the bullpen and it seems Baker is the odd-man out. He posted a troublesome 5.73 ERA in his 11 innings for the Dodgers. The veteran right-hander should attract interest elsewhere from team's in need of rotation depth.

Scott Baker surrendered four earned runs in four frames Saturday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Los Angeles scored three runs between the seventh and eighth innings, saving Baker from the loss. He gave up seven hits, including a first-inning homer to Paul Goldschmidt and a fourth-inning homer to Aaron Hill. Baker has an ugly 5.73 ERA in 11 innings (two starts) this season for the Dodgers. He gets the Brewers on the road next.

Scott Baker allowed three runs in seven innings in a loss to the Padres on Sunday.

Advice: Considering that Baker had been toiling away for Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to the game, this was a pretty impressive start. He lasted seven innings and struck out six while allowing just four hits and three runs. If Baker continues throwing well, there's no reason why the Dodgers wouldn't keep him in the rotation, especially given the tenuous nature of the team's pitching staff. Brandon McCarthy (elbow) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) are both out for the foreseeable future and on top of that, the Dodgers are about to embark on a 17-game stretch without a day off. Long-time Twin Baker struggled in 2014, posting a 5.47 ERA in 80 2/3 innings for the Rangers, but the move to the NL should benefit the 33-year-old right-hander. He could be worth a look as a streaming option.

Dodgers purchased the contract of RHP Scott Baker from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: He'll get the ball on Sunday against the Padres. With Brandon McCarthy (elbow) presumably out for a while and Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) still on the shelf, Baker could stick around for a bit if he pitches well. He came within one pitch of a seven-inning perfect game for Oklahoma City his last time out.

Scott Baker will be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make a spot start for the Dodgers on Sunday against the Padres.

Advice: With a tough schedule coming up where the team plays on 17 consecutive days, the Dodgers want to give their regular starters an extra day of rest while they have the chance. It had been reported that the club would give Joe Wieland a start, but they've decided to go with Baker instead. The 33-year-old came within one pitch of a seven-inning perfect game for Oklahoma City his last time out. He could be worth a look as a streaming option.
