Maine rebounded from four subpar outings to throw seven solid innings and earn the win in the Mets' 6-3 victory over the Phillies Wednesday, Recommendation: Maine allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five to get the victory. He was staked to a 2-0 lead in the first but surrendered back-to-back home runs in the second to lose it. After that, he allowed just a run on five hits over his next five innings, showing good movement and life on his fastball and bite on his slider, to improve to 9-7 on the year. |

RHP John Maine continued to flounder as the Mets' winning streak was stopped at 10 games. Maine has now gone four starts without a victory; since June 25, when he went only six to beat Seattle.
Maine gave up five runs on five hits and five walks in 4 2/3 innings, the fifth time this year he hasn't gone five innings. |
